SUMMER CAMP

Holly and I after a long, but super fun VIP day... We survived being drenched in the morning and then enjoyed a beautiful afternoon. Marcie, Holly and I at the Robot Carnival ... yes, I have a sweatshirt on in June in West Texas, it rained all morning and in the canyon the temperature dropped like a rock.

Ryan and I, he is the sweetest kid. We met at the holiday party, last December, and immediately bonded of Nintendo DS. He has apparenlty opened up and done a 180 in the last 12 months.

My first MDA summer camp was such an amazing experience! It really was the reason I work so hard, the reason my office works so hard, and the reason our organization and all of the people involved work diligently to raise money year-round. These kids know the epitome of having a great day, living to make the most of each day and summer camp is a week of those days. I can't wait until next year.

Ah, a McGee?

So, yesterday Jon met an Irishman at work. At first Jon thought the man was just messing with him, the accent and all. Eventually, Jon realized this man was indeed Irish, from Ireland, living in West Texas.

The man tells Jon he needs to get the car cleaned up because it is his anniversary, and his wife deserves a clean car since she has put up with him for 45 years. Jon tells him happy anniversary, and the man says that everyone has to understand that loving the Irish, for so long, is tough and something that is not appreciated, by those who have not experienced loving the Irish. "The Irish are tough to live with, we are a bit crazy and she has loved me through it all." Now, you can guess what Jon says: "Well, I'm in love with an Irish girl, her name is McGee"

Irishman: "OH MCGEE?! I was hoping you would say O'Reilly, but McGee? If it were an O'Reilly I would say you are in good hands, but the McGee’s are nuts… may the holy father com e down and bless you right now. "

BA-hahahhahahahaaa

Then he said Son, I know you know, but the irish are hard to live with …" He also said the McGee's are getting a bad reputation and I should fix it for them.. obviously, just messing with Jon.

Jon told me this story and I about DIED laughing, what a hilarious customer.

Life got in the way of blogging, drats! I wish I remembered all of the GREAT stuff I should blog about.. I know one thing that was AWESOME: Lubbock FILL THE BOOT. Boy, did those guys fill the boot, the OVER-FLOWED the boot! It was a wonderful three days and the Lubbock Professional Fire Fighters, Local 972, really revved it up this year.

As usual a self portrait before I went to work that morning, the fire fighters gave Holly & I our very own LFD hats with our names on the side!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

We had so much fun this weekend! Meredith and her boyfriend Billy came to Lubbock to visit for her birthday!! It had been entirely too long since I had seen my best friend. 11 months.. crazy, just crazy!

We had such a fun weekend, and Jon and I were so happy to get to spend Mere's birthday with them. WHO DOESN'T LOVE TO CELEBRATE!?

My mom is wonderful

The weekend before Fill The Boot, just about the only weekend I'm not working, my mom headed West to see Jon and I.

The visit was AWESOME, besides spoiling us silly with great meals and a trip to the home improvement store, the company was WONDERFUL. It was so nice to spend the weekend with my mom; I miss her a lot.

FRIDAY: We showed her the house! YAY! Then we spent some time catching up and of course headed to the Strip for some beverages.

*I'm sure many of you saw in the news that Lubbock is now wet; well, nothing has changed our grocery stores DO NOT have alocohol in them yet, neither do the convenience stores, nobody has alcohol to sell yet. Alas, for another post the drama of making Lubbock a "wet" city.*

This photo was not planned, I was making a silly face because the camera wouldn't take the picture, and well, you can see what happened.

We hit up happy hour at Friday's .... should have gone to Rosa's but we wanted to eat a meal there and it was TOO early for dinner. Best part about Friday's, I was carded, and when she looked at my DL I quote: "Wow, you are WAAY older than I thought you were..." HA!
Ummm, thanks? Seriously, what was I supposed to say. I know why she carded me though- anytime I wear a baseball cap or I have my hair half up apparently, I look about 5 to 7 years younger.

Then we decided we would go to Wally World for some items, mainly a DVD player- ours broke the day before she arrived- well as many of you can guess this trip was not to be easy, efficient or fun. As always the trip comes with odd stories and the inability to simply 'run' to ww for anything. After finally purchasing the recordable dvd player we ordered a pizza, as it was 11pm already, ate and went to bed. Sadly, we didn't USE the dvd player we specifically wanted for the evening.

SATURDAY Jon had to work, I had to run a morning errand for work, but finally Mom and I hung out all day. We ate at ROSA'S ~~ I love Rosa's-- Who DOESN'T LOVE Rosa's? I dare you to say you don't LOVE Rosa's. Mom bought me a peace lily on Saturday and I have some great news: IT IS STILL ALIVE, a little over a month and I haven't killed it yet. YAY!

That night we went to Double Nickel, a locally owned steak restaurant. It was yummy, but the dresscode was not as lavish as the host described- oh well I LOVE to dress up, and any time is always good for pictures!

SUNDAY Mom had to leave so we had a good breakfast and then just hung out at the house.

Not to leave Dad out~ he was on a golfing trip, yep, he had it rough. From what I hear the trip was great and he has many beautiful pictures to share. So, email/call and ask about them!!

I can't wait for them both to come back and visit.
